Samantha Hakwins | Registered Psychotherapy in Barrie, ON

If you’re navigating anxiety, disconnection, or the weight of just being human—I offer space to be seen, supported, and gently explore what’s really going on under the surface.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck in the same patterns, or finding it hard to connect with yourself or others, you're not alone—and you don’t have to carry it all by yourself.

Many people come to therapy unsure of where to begin, only knowing that something needs to shift. I offer a warm, grounded space where we can explore what’s feeling heavy, confusing, or disconnected in your life.

I practice relational, body-based therapy rooted in the Gestalt tradition, which means I’m not here to “fix” you—but to be with you in your experience, to witness it, and to help you make sense of it with curiosity and compassion. Together, we’ll explore how you relate to your emotions, your body, your relationships, and the world around you. That exploration can open the door to clarity, choice, change and empowerment to face future challenges with greater awareness and confidence.

I work with individuals 14 and older navigating grief, anxiety, low self-esteem, identity questions, life transitions, trauma, and relationship difficulties. I have experience supporting 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, people impacted by addiction or incarceration, and caregivers.

Whatever brings you here, we’ll start where you are. You don’t have to have the right words—you just need a willingness to begin.

My areas of specialization include:

Depression

Gender Expression

Bipolar Disorder (BPD)

Individuals

Anxiety

What Can You Expect if You Work With Me?

Relational therapy is grounded in the idea that healing happens through connection—both with yourself and with others. In our work together, you can expect a warm, collaborative space where your thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations are welcomed and explored with curiosity. This approach draws from Gestalt therapy, incorporating body awareness, creativity, and present-moment experiences to help you better understand how you relate to the world around you. You won’t be given quick fixes—but you will be supported in making meaningful, lasting shifts. Sessions may include talking, reflection, and movement, all at a pace that feels right for you.

My office is located at 151 Essa Road, right at the intersection of Essa Rd. and Anne St. It is a clean and relaxed environment shared with other therapists like myself. As you enter, there is a waiting area where you can get some water or coffee while you wait.

Individual sessions are $170 (no tax) for 50 minutes. To reach me directly, email samantha@lindsaytsang.com
