Self-Esteem

SELF-ESTEEM COUNSELLING SERVICES

What is the story you tell yourself?

Self-esteem reflects an individual's overall subjective emotional evaluation of his or her own worth. It is the decision made by an individual as an attitude towards the self. When it comes to your self-worth, only one opinion truly matters — your own. And even that one should be carefully evaluated because we tend to be our own harshest critics.
Good self-esteem means:
  • Having a healthy view of yourself
  • Having a quiet sense of self-worth
  • Having a positive outlook
  • Feeling satisfied with yourself most of the time
  • Setting realistic goals

  • Be with people who treat you well - Choose friends who help you feel OK about
  • Positive self talk - Say helpful things to yourself. Tune in to the voice in your head. Is it too critical? Are you too hard on yourself?
  • Set goals and work toward them - If you want to feel good about yourself, do things that are good for you. Make a goal. Then make a plan for how to do it. Stick with your plan.
