We all feel stressed sometimes. It's part of life. But ongoing patterns of stress can take a serious toll on your thoughts, moods, productivity, relationships and more.
How do I know if stress is affecting me?
- It may be causing physical symptoms such as muscle tension, chest pain, fatigue, upset stomach, loss of appetite or lower sex drive.
- Normal, routine activities feel overwhelming
- You may feel unmotivated or unable to focus on tasks
- There may be strong feelings of anger, sadness, anxiety, irritability, or restlessness
- You may find your behaviours are becoming unhealthy or harder to control
Activities that lower stress
Stress is a normal part of life in our fast-paced culture. The demands are higher than ever. It's important to set boundaries on our time and activities so that the stress doesn't take over.
Stress-reducing activities may include:
- Enjoying some time outside taking in the scenery
- Spending time with loved ones
- Regular physical activity
- Perhaps reducing sugar and caffeine intake
- Taking time for hobbies
