4 Ways to Overcome Your Lack of Confidence

Guest Post • Feb 10, 2018

Everyone struggles with lack of confidence from time to time. Here is how to overcome that struggle.

Whether you feel like you're not pretty enough, smart enough, or intelligent enough, everyone struggles with a lack of confidence now and then. If you find that you're struggling with it right now, or more often than not, there are ways that you can build your confidence back up. Here are four simple ways to overcome your lack of confidence.

Be a participant in your own life

Be aware, be mindful, and live in the moment. This mindfulness prevents you from feeling lost in the past, worried about the future, and lets you recognize how you feel about things that are happening so you can choose how to respond to them. Being aware allows you to take appropriate actions and makes you an active participant in your own life,

making choices rather than drifting along and allowing decisions to be made for you.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy has become more common in the last few years, and more people are aware of its benefits. Not everyone is aware, however, that one of those benefits is boosting confidence. Using certain essential oils, such as lavender, peppermint, sandalwood, bergamot, rosemary, tea tree, chamomile or ylang-ylang oils, can all help you increase your confidence. Try putting a few drops of one of these doTerra oils

scents on a cotton ball that you can inhale from any time you need it, or diffuse one in a diffuser. There are also pieces of jewelry that can distribute the scent for you.

Be honest about who you are

For some people, lack of confidence comes from pretending to be someone they aren't

in an attempt to please or impress other people. Stop acting, and live authentically as who you are. Don't worry about what people think, allow yourself to be vulnerable and know that the people who still surround you are the ones who genuinely love you for who you are.

Say no, and mean it

When you agree to do something you don't want to do, that hurts your confidence. When you do a lousy job at something you've agreed to do, you feel bad for not doing your best. Instead of letting your confidence take a beating by saying yes to things you don't want to do, learn to say no. Don't give in when people badger. Say no and mean it.

Confidence comes from within. No one else can give it to you. Use these tips and tricks to find that part of yourself that knows you are amazing just as you are.
